The Non-Client Facing Margin Wall: The "margin team" or risk department at major brokerages like E*TRADE (Morgan Stanley) is intentionally walled off from direct client phone lines.   @etrade liquidated a 7 figure stock portfolio my wife inherited into a managed fund. When there was confusion about which accounts funds were going into, E*trade did nothing to prevent the rebalancing/ liquidation. This triggered a sizable tax event. E*trade is the worst.
