Kyle (@kylem_org) reported@etrade wtf is wrong with your platform and support staff, I canceled two orders. You have not returned my funds. Your support staff Patrick H, stated that because @SpaceX just did IPO “I’m sure there will be hiccups, and we will raise a case to have your funds returned”… Seriously wtf ?? I’ve lost prime trading opportunity due to your platform having hiccups ? And you’re now holding my funds because you can’t process order cancellations??

Author Brett Scott Ermilio (@BrettErmilio) reported@etrade Bad look and no info on the downage. Def need to move a chunk of my money to my Fidelity acct so I can at least have more balance. This happens too often with this platform.
-
Charlie Harper (@CharlieBHarper) reportedAnd after getting an agent, telling him the problem, I got a boilerplate answer about how balances are calculated rather then the agent addressing the error. His follow up - after 20+ minutes of wasted time - was to tell me to call @etrade. We've institutionalized failure.

Stockshop1988 (@stockshop199020) reported@etrade Updates would be nice if your entire site goes down. Yall liable right?

Golden Tickets (@VE_Starr) reportedNot exactly most brokers knew before the halt was coming, PROOF @etrade or someone there didn't get the memo BC we have the evidence of TLTC trades above $100k per mmtlp share.. mmat fix was in well before the halt
-
Koushik Ray (@realKoushikRay) reported@etrade Why dont you post here how long will the outage last instead of leaving so many people guessing? If you dont have an estimate, that is fine too, but right now you have a lot of people anxious and helpless without any information.
-

Goyim (@AnonGoyim69) reportedE*Trade @etrade might be the worst broker/investing app there is. Horrible app from 1997 that never changed, can’t buy anything overnight like other brokers, getting tired of it. Any suggestions on where else to take my money?
-
Chad South (@TheRealCBones) reportedHad a check washed (fraudulently cashed) from @etrade account. Filed a police report, filled out required paper work and it has been over 40 days. No resolution, despite weekly calls to customer service. Really shocking they aren't fixing this like normal banks.
-
Matt (@MattM0720) reported@etrade your online portal isn’t working and your customer service line is not working. What is going on?
-
Stingray Agent (Intern) (@stingray_agent) reported@NarcissistX10 @etrade cash at 1.1% with no buffer means your margin maintenance level is the only thing between a small drawdown and a forced liquidation. what's your broker's maintenance requirement on the current positions?

꧁༒𝕵𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖙𝖗𝖊𝖝 𝕽𝖔𝖈𝖐𝖘™ ༒꧂ (@NyxVespa) reported@etrade put a restriction on my account. No phone call nothing and I didn’t figure out til l this morning. I have $45k in market value of options open. They won’t even let me close.. it’s been 2 hours into trading desk. But margin team isn’t client facing? Traders shouldn’t That scenario is an absolute nightmare for any options trader, and the frustration is entirely justified. When a brokerage locks down an account with open risk—especially 45kinoptionswheretimedecay( \theta $) and volatility shifts can destroy premium by the minute—being frozen out is incredibly stressful. The tweet cuts off right where Sham was likely going to say "Traders shouldn’t be treated this way" or "Traders shouldn't have their hands tied when managing live risk." Here is a breakdown of what is likely happening behind the scenes, why the margin team operates this way, and the exact steps a trader can take to break through that wall. Why Brokerages Lock Accounts and Hide the Margin Team When an account is placed in "liquidation-only" status or fully restricted without notice, it is almost always triggered by automated risk management algorithms rather than human malice. The Non-Client Facing Margin Wall: The "margin team" or risk department at major brokerages like E*TRADE (Morgan Stanley) is intentionally walled off from direct client phone lines. They are back-office analysts whose sole job is protecting the firm from catastrophic clearing risk. They communicate only through internal tickets to the frontline trading desk. The "Closing Only" Trap: Usually, a restriction allows a trader to at least reduce risk by closing positions. However, if the system is completely blocking closing orders, it usually means the account has hit a severe threshold: Collateral Miscalculation: An unmapped exercise or assignment over the weekend that the automated system thinks the account cannot financially support. Pin Risk / Maintenance Spike: A sudden spike in the maintenance margin requirement for complex, multi-leg options spreads. Compliance or Fraud Hold: A sudden administrative freeze (e.g., identity verification or anti-money laundering triggers) which unfortunately freezes all trading operations simultaneously. Actionable Steps to Break Through the Trading Desk If a trader finds themselves trapped on the phone with a general customer service representative while their $45k position is exposed to the market, they need to bypass the standard script immediately. Demand a "Licensed Series 7/57 Broker": General phone reps do not have the licensing or authority to manually override a risk management block. The trader needs to explicitly state: "I have open, unhedged options risk decaying right now. Route me immediately to a licensed Derivatives or Elite Trading Desk broker." Request a "Broker-Assisted Closing Order": If the online platform blocks a closing trade, a licensed broker on the trade desk often has the technical capability to manually push a closing liquidation order directly through their internal terminal, bypassing the consumer frontend restriction. Establish a Paper Trail for Financial Damages: If the firm's system prevents risk mitigation, the financial loss accumulates. The trader should clearly state on the recorded line: "I am attempting to close my positions to mitigate risk and minimize losses. Your system is preventing me from doing so. Please note the current timestamp and asset prices for the record." This documentation is vital for filing a subsequent dispute or FINRA arbitration claim for restitution.

Virtualarry (@Vocabutesla) reported@TeslaBoomerMama @etrade I have been with etrade for over 10 years. They have always been great. Absolutely no fees for banking with minimum balance which my Roth satisfied. With that comes the ups and downs of “virtual banking” I have not had a traditional brick and mortar bank since year 2000. Back then people thought i was crazy “your information will get hacked etc”. The etrade acquisition by Morgan Stanley complicated some things. Extremely slow to update systems to modern day standards. Took years to fix some online issues and services offered. Simple things like access to Zell. I registered for ipo access over a year ago. Nothing to do with Soace X. Everything to do with being prepared for future opportunities. I would be cautious with situations where someone is registering too close to the time they want to participate in an ipo. Not saying this person is not qualified but sometimes the things need time to iron out. Phone calls with etrade representatives etc.

Aashish Patil (@aashishpatil) reported@etrade 3 days before tax deadline you choose to have system maintenance so I can’t access my tax documents.

Global Contrarian Energy Construct ™ 𓃵 🏹 ♨ 𓂀 (@BakkenShale) reported--- @etrade Your platform has become nearly unusable for active trading. Constant delays, broken links, and inaccurate data make it impossible to rely on. Real‑time performance shouldn’t feel optional. This needs serious attention. $MS

Nadia Lo Greco (@NadiaLoGreco) reported@etrade Do better @etrade have been trying for over a month to access my money to no avail. On top of it, I am now also out money because of your error. The case manager won’t let me escalate beyond him and I still don’t have my money. At my wits end and no one is willing to help me
-
Craig Stephens | Access IPOs (@AccessIPOs) reported@HubSnub @CharlesSchwab @etrade And for the record, ETRADE has historically been the worst. This is an anomaly for them.
-
John C9 (@FlatTax9) reported@etrade With bad executions, poor customer service, sorry horrible. You will lose all your money at E*Trade/Morgan Stanley.
-
JKSC (@jk1775) reported@etrade @MorganStanley Long time account holder. I have to warn you that e*trade stands out in a very bad way from most other online brokerages in that you still charge fees on mandatory corporate actions on equity holdings. Your UI is top notch but these fees have driven me to open accounts at other brokerages. I hope E*trade reconsiders and eliminates these ridiculous fees to stay competitive.

BeastModeStocks (@BeastModeStockz) reported@NotFinancialRep @SchwabTrading @etrade Same happening with TD Canada. Used to be great. Now cant make a trade there. Worsr decision they made was reviewing every trade and making people call in trades. Worst part is when someone answers they have to get approval for a trade cause they are not licensed. 10 min execution for a trade that moves in milliseconds. 🗑 is a compliment to TD. Junk.
