@DaveyJ_ @TheKingOfStank dude, especially with "managed" platforms... moved a clients domain over to hostgator and it was laughable. wouldn't let me update to my own name servers w/o going through support, and they had the PTR records all messed up so emails were getting flagged nonsense i tell you

@HostGator #SSL errors for multiple sites. Please get to the bottom of it. All we did was deactivate some outdated plugins.

@HostGator, I’ve been stuck in endless chatbot loops trying to cancel Titan Email I never signed up for. No option to cancel, no real support. I’m a paying customer. I want it cancelled & a refund ASAP. No transparency on your site.

@HostGator @HostGator or anyone out there can you verify this is actually #Hostgator before we attempt to do tech support via #X instead of over the phone

@FakeUncleNemo @zrkann I got out of @HostGator about 10 yrs ago. They sabotaged one of my servers and asked $250 for "emergency upgrade". Funny enough, the support engineer who I was on the phone with, fixed it without it but had to switch it off again so they could keep the scam going 🤡

Rocketship SEO Plugin: We have identified a memory handling issue with our plugin that appears to largely impact Yoast users on Bluehost (though not HostGator which is the same company). in 100% of cases we've investigated the issue goes away in a few hours as memory used subsides. You might get an error immediately after activating the plugin that says there has been a critical error on the site. Your site and Admin area are fine, this is the memory issue manifesting itself. You might also get a report emailed by WordPress saying the issue was caused by @Yoast using too much memory, but it is our plugin causing the problem not Yoast. Our best guess at the moment is that this error is caused by our compatibility settings with Yoast which is performed automatically upon install and activation. We are looking at making this process more efficient and improving our compatibility so sites in shared environments like Bluehost do not encounter this issue.

@FakeUncleNemo Agree generally, but not with Hostgator. EIG subsidiaries (Hostgator, Bluehost, etc) lure people in with cheap intro rates but they quickly raise the prices, their defaults are slow and often have security vulnerabilities, and their customer support, well, I'm not sure it exists.

HostGator and Network Solutions, both owned by Newfold Digital, are guilty of hostile censorship. Users report struggling to regain access to their sites after wrongful suspensions, with slow, unhelpful customer support failing to provide clear reasons for the lockout.

The worst web and email hosting provider is Hostgator. They suspend user accounts without warning. Their censorship policy is arbitrary allowing no clear definition of policy. Your opinion is not allowed on your own web site! #scam #HostGatorSux

@HGSupport Ouch, looks like we hit a nerve. Maybe if you guys replied to him quicker like you tweeted us instead of having him cry for help for 7 days might do the trick? Just 2 cents from us ;)

We’re moving to @HostGator — they actually pick up the phone. A website host should support your business, not sink it.

Catwatchful’s breach exposed thousands of victim and customer records in July 2025, with attackers leaking photos, locations, and messages. Operators bypassed the first shutdown by migrating APIs to HostGator—demonstrating how stalkerware survives by shifting infrastructure faster than hosts can react. Google only started flagging the app with Play Protect after TechCrunch’s publication, and the spyware’s operators relaunched service within days. This cycle shows tech platforms can barely keep up when stalkerware pivots, and just about every stalkerware provider eventually leaks all their data.
