Destiny 1 had the same problem, it was a smaller playerbase and there wasn't any content whatsoever for a long time along with not even getting generally good reviews, now destiny 2 is one of the most played games on steam, and usually high on twitch too

Brett (@MrBLTs) reported@LivinLifeNormal @XboxSupport Lmao. Dude the amount of online issues me and my friends had playing destiny 2, overwatch and cod on ps4 would make@you cry. We moved an entire clan over to avoid the crappy psn infrastructure. It’s better now but got 2015-2018 was a hot mess for psn.

Dylspunj (@Dylsponge3) reported@whodatsodapop The issue is that it just got compared to games it wasn’t similar too. Battleborn was so unique with an FPS MOBA, but instead everyone yelled it was an Overwatch clone. People couldn’t try it out and figure out for themselves.
