Also we have insane twister and monkey builds doing crazy damage at every stage of the game and the taming just made twister multiple times stronger without any downsides, but infinite flicker is an issue? That doesn't seem right.

Needing all of them for a challenge right now just means waiting till you finish the season to use the points. Maybe add more multiple choice nodes too.
