BAXBEAST (@BAXBEAST) reportedTarkov is at a point of NO RETURN And needs to make an urgent decision. The new season, according to Nikita, has a 33% player retention rate, along with PVE and Permanent PVP which also have 33% each. This is a big problem, because Tarkov up until now has only ever had PVP with Wipes (the current season mode), and that was the way players came back to the game. I feel that this 33% is not enough to sustain the game long-term. It’s not like Path of Exile, which has had the same league model since the beginning and people are used to it, plus it’s a completely different game. New PoE leagues retain 95% of their players in the first week, compare that to Tarkov’s 33%. Not only that, Tarkov depends on people actually playing because it’s primarily a PVP game. Before, people in PVE and Permanent PVP were forced to play the wipe if they wanted to enjoy the game, now they can just choose not to. I understand a lot of people say they don’t have the time or the desire to play the seasons, but it’s essential that they do so the game stays alive. Otherwise, the same people currently playing Permanent PVP will eventually get bored and quit. Tarkov is trying to be a game “for everyone” and is going to end up being a game for no one. It’s fine for a game to be complicated enough that it’s not for everyone, that’s what the people who love Tarkov fell in love with in the first place. I think Permanent PVP is a mistake, and the longer it stays, the harder it will be to fix. On the other hand, the adaptation of the new league (easier quests, QoL changes, etc.) was very positive. If this had been a classic wipe like before, it would have had way more people and players would realize it’s not that hard to progress and would play more, but right now people aren’t even giving it a chance. So I think we’re at the point of no return: keep grinding down and splitting the player base until the inevitable decline of the game? Or keep the wipes active like it always was? I know removing PVE isn’t an option, but continuing to wipe Permanent PVP and turning it into the current league system still seems viable to me. I can’t really think of another way to save the numbers and get healthy player counts at the start of wipes like we used to have. I hope I’m wrong and the game keeps doing well, because as we all know, there aren’t two Tarkovs. TLDR: PVP perma needs to go, Season needs to be the new "Wiping method" so game doesnt split too much and has healthy player base on PVP, otherwise decline will come and boredom will take over.

A. T. (@adam_tux) reported@Hikamiro @pathofexile Memory leak is when you have code that doesn't correctly clean up the memory after itself. But sometimes you need more memory ... because you just do :D. It's not always a leak. The ppl fixing it by increasing heap size are the engineers in NVidia and it might be the right fix.
