Eventually it just becomes incredibly bloated and the barrier to entry for new players is almost impenetrable. I am shocked they wanted to follow this model with Valorant since it basically guarantees it won’t have the longevity of CS.

That isnt how that works. You dont do that with League champions, you dont do that with Valorant Agents, etc.
