Tech support for my neighbor involves mostly confirming to them that the shittiest, low level phishes are not real. Hey @yahoomail fix your spam filters. People are impersonating you and scaring users about your premium mail product.

Sky/Yahoo mail down. I guess the emails telling me I needed to update my mailbox or lose my account were genuine. Odd that it’s taken several years and not “in the next 48 hours” like they threatened.

@ContraPoints basically it is like email you can make an email account on Protonmail, gmail, yahoo mail whatever, similarly you can make one on different mastodon servers (they call it "instances") in the end people can (mostly) talk with each other provided that you server is not shunned

I wish @yahoomail had an "undo send" like @skiffprivacy has! I just replied to an email from an online course customer service in error. The email should have replied to my local council. 😪 I had to send a further email to apologise for my error!

But don't worry -- in the same way that you can join Gmail and still send email to Yahoomail, you can join just about any server and see posts by people on other servers too.

"Mastodon" is like "email" - Gmail talks to Protonmail talks to Yahoo Mail talks to the self-hosted email server in my basement, but nobody oversees *email*. It's a zillion websites, but they can all talk to each other and form one network.

@yahoomail is a waste of time. I have a business account and having constant problems. Yahoo's technical incompetence is beyond me. They do not test software upgrades well before they release. Users become painful guinea pigs.

@sacrificialcall @DoctorBarkanine Yeah, it didn't. The search engine is LESS used, but most of its services were always embedded in other companies. Yahoo Mail, for example? That was always AT&T. Part of my job there was to help with account servicing and server hosting.
