They probably did that to differentiate themselves but the cinematography doesn’t scream you’re watching Bladerunner or in their world set forth by the visual language of the 2 movies.

It became problematic when they killed King Randor and Prince Adam wasn't crowned King. They should have kept him alive otherwise it makes no sense. But hey ho, GIRL POWER! Yay..
