Rogers/Bell/Cogeco/Telus do NOT have a monopoly - not even close - on enterprise level, full BGP-tables internet access in Canada. So when critical services go down because someone chose "just Rogers" that was the choice to have a single point of failure.

Anyone else in the #Burlington, ON area having issues with #Cogeco over the past few days. I've noticed around midday that several channels get staticky & unwatchable, and the internet becomes sporadic for 2-3 hrs, then it all returns to normal...

@cogecohelps So this is Cogeco, eh? You make it impossible to disconnect services. A customer tells you they were on hold for one hour, then disconnected and your advice is "call an agent".

On hold for 35 minutes (and counting) with @cogeco waiting to talk to customer support. Is this the new normal? @cogecohelps

@SadlyCatless I'm with Cogeco. Super funny though. A Bell agent came by the house trying to win us back yesterday, while Rogers was dying in a ditch somewhere. Too bad Bell lines don't function even on the best of days.

@UnrealReilly @merry123459 If Cogeco went down then you'd be affected too. All these bigger telecoms are vulnerable; the smaller ones are b/c they piggyback onto the big ones! That's why yesterday some other carriers were also down b/c they use Rogers network. I'm w Bell but I don't think I'm any safer.

@DathanSmith1991 LMAO Rogers doesn’t own TekSavvy or other wholesale ISPs. They lease part of their network. The same with Bell. And Cogeco.

@drewtremblay @wtccomm They use Cogeco’s lines. I really like this company. If I need equipment, they’re easy to get to. Service is excellent. Employees are local, not a call centre off shore.

@TDougAdair @AmitAryaMD They are attempting to buy Cogeco which to me will make them a monopoly since across Canada they will have far more customers than Bell. Many switch from Bell due to horrid practices like bad treatment of the very staff who disclose a disability they say they support
