@playnewworld Pathetic. Even EQ still has live servers that dedicated players are able to still play on. We now know we can never trust any future products of Amazon Games or their cloud gaming service “Luna”

@RealLucarioTV @NyceGamingYT @playnewworld Nah not every. FF14 is alive. Gw2 is alive. ESO is alive. Problem is...the game just had too many problems. I played it myself at launch and i bit my *** that my friends kept me over 2 hours so i couldn't refund on steam...it was just not that good...maybe it changed but...well

@SavvvoGames @JeffBezos @playnewworld Problem is Bezos is not even there anymore - he has been slowly selling off his stock. Some DEV company just needs to see if they can buy New World. I figured this was coming once they decided to rebrand Prime Gaming and I am afraid more changes will be coming, soon.

@playnewworld Take WoW for instance. The servers lag when there's a world boss in a zone, the customer support is literally chatgpt, the story was terrible or boring for years, so the endgame progression and collections are the only real reasons it's still going.

@LSXYZ9 @playnewworld Its secretly been the best MMO out there. It hit 1M concurrents on launch but was a mess with way too many problems and devs being too slow to fix things so everyone quit and never talked about it again. Recent upates made the game PEAK

I think with the announcement of @playnewworld shutting down i'm in a place where im done sparing peoples feelings around it. New world had technical problems but in the end its community sentenced it to death. I played 1400 hours as a PvE

@DeathMetalV @towelthetank @playnewworld That truth, but what makes ppl really feeling sad about the announcement in last 3season they really fixed things and they added alot of cool things for both pve&pvp but their issues were always the first impression they gave to ppl they never will manage get back the player base

I am gutted, deeply sad and in a state of grief. It feels like after 1.7k hours like i've lost a friend. i met amazing people, forged friendships and had many laughter. I assume a live service game does not work anymore, Much like most MMOs. @playnewworld

@playnewworld @amazon never using your service again and sure as hell won’t be touching an AGS game moving forward. Shady business practice with this choice. You guys really suck!

@BagginsTV @playnewworld What profit? The game made zero money in 5 years? I'd pull the plug too. This was the same dev team the entire life cycle. Same leadership except homeboy left. They had 5 years of free reign from Amazon and failed. That's a development problem that led to a corporate problem.

@JexonHP @playnewworld It’s not about being cheap. It’s about transparency and consumer fairness. The devs clearly knew content development was winding down, that S10 was likely their last gasp, yet continued selling store items and DLC with no disclosure that the game was entering maintenance mode. That’s not equivalent to buying a movie ticket — it’s paying into a live service under the impression it’s ongoing. The ethics change dramatically when the service is knowingly winding down. Your argument hinges on false equivalence — comparing a complete, self-contained entertainment product (i.e., a movie or single-player game) with an ongoing live-service ecosystem that’s ending. A better analogy would be purchasing season tickets for your favorite sports team only to find out midway through the season that the team is dissolving the following season and during that next season the team won’t be playing any games — yet you can continue showing up to the stadium to purchase merch and food from the concession stands. There’s no perfect analogy for this sort of situation which is why GaaS are incredibly exploitative.

@LSXYZ9 @playnewworld also the issue with the game have lost visibility isn't because no hype but because it was ******* mismanaged and buggy as ****

@playnewworld The game had its moments. But the persistent failure to acknowledge the game's major systemic issues and the reluctance to fix them killed it. The constant creation and merging of servers instead of system overhauls was just one of the things that turned me off.

@JeffBezos @playnewworld Then why are you shutting down such an amazing game? It has finally become what it was always meant to be. All of the issues have been fixed. The gameplay and combat are second to none. Then we get rug pulled. “Not financially feasible” is such a cop out.

@towelthetank @playnewworld Despite issues at first, I stuck with it. And, I must say that I certainly got my money's worth, what with the 770+ hours I've invested into the game. It's my cozy game. I enjoy leveling my gathering & crafting skills. And it's a shame that it'll sunset next year.

@playnewworld So basically they are shutting the servers down at the end of 2026 but still allowing people to make in game purchases of their "premium" currency. Unreal.

@Kaelon @JoshStrifeHayes @playnewworld Inarguably the best PVP combat in an MMO. Problem is, MMO players generally don't enjoy PVP, and this game was originally made for PvP full loot type gameplay and shifted last minute to theme park. I put around 1k into the game during launch.

@SavvvoGames @JeffBezos @playnewworld This game had so much potential and it was left to die. Years of nothing and a -10k concurrent playerbase on steam isn’t a huge community in anyway…don’t see them giving in to try to fix a game on life support but maybe.

@towelthetank @playnewworld The last update is good, but let's be honest. It was still too little too late. People were doubting the profitability of the game since forever. Tons of bugs and issues went unfixed since launch and still are. The game always had potential but they never did reach it.
