Yesterday, staff who were sick had no way of notifying the hospital thanks to @Rogers mass network outage. They just did not show up. Patients suffered tremendously. So did the few staff who were present. Who else thinks it's time to end cellphone monopolies in Canada?

After yesterday’s @Rogers outage, I’ve noticed a lot of Canadians calling for public (aka government) control of Canadian telecoms. I dislike Rogers as much as anyone but the government can’t even hand out passports or manage a mobile app, you really want them in charge of this?

The massive nationwide @Rogers services outage has slapped us all in the face with a clear reality: The more we are pushed to rely solely on a digital economy and society, the more vulnerable we are. Internet can be taken down with one click. Avoid technological dependency.

It’s a bad idea for corporations like @Rogers to Monopolize the telecom industry.

@dunebud @funlover1999 @RogersHelps Essentially- they ran an update, broke everything and had to scramble to spin up a virtual server in the cloud, recreate and restore the previous server database, test the fixes, clear the physical server of the poisoned update, restore the servers and relaunch the network.
