Sasktel is the best telecom company in Canada and drives down the other big 3’s prices in Saskatchewan. A public option is absolutely a good thing for esssntials.

Paplinski (@tpaplinski) reported@cselley There does exist in several iterations, what he describes. Co-op is an example, higher per item price with an equitable profit share There is Sasktel as a government owned service provider. Less customer service, higher prices, zero profit motivation.

Rob Warkentin (@RobWarkentin) reported@jbomberag @SaskTel @davisinst I've had good luck with their support in the past as well. Because both of mine are doing the same thing and started at the same time, I'm thinking it's more of a network issue in this case.

As an IT & Cybersecurity Company that supports travel and works across Canada there is nothing as easy and that works as well as Starlink. From Africa to Canada! There are ways to secure data beyond your ISP, if people are not using that they should be. Telesat has been promising their solution for 5 years now, 4 Billion in Taxpayers money and still no testing. Amazon Leo is testing but is also US based.

Effective April 1, 2026, the province’s crown corporation will manage installation, equipment purchases, and billing in-house for qualifying rural businesses holding a valid GST number. This initiative directly supports small farms, mines, and forestry operations in areas where traditional fibre or broadband infrastructure remains costly and slow to deploy. Existing Starlink Business customers can switch to SaskTel billing at no charge, allowing them to consolidate services seamlessly. The move represents a meaningful advancement in closing the connectivity gap for rural Saskatchewan enterprises.
