@mattdance @buzzilinear @ShawInfo I have an older Mac laptop. (Like, 2013 old.) But my son has a brand new gaming laptop and he has the same internet problems, often down, slow, not connecting... it's frustrating.

  • AnotherNisha Nisha 🏳️‍🌈 Poet Laureate (@AnotherNisha) reported

@JulieRohrYEG @ShawInfo We wired ethernet cables through the whole apartment (and have wired through the heat vents/staircases) from the router - a 50ft cable can be like $30 and you can get longer ones online. We can handle multiple zoom calls at once with no problem now.

  • Boyd0H Boyd0H (@Boyd0H) reported

@Shawhelp Hello, wondering if there is an internet outage in my area

  • Bradley_Reschny Bradley Reschny (@Bradley_Reschny) reported

@ShawInfo ok what ******** my wifi has been absolutely terrible recently in Dawson creek pouce coupe area it's making me consider switching internet providers

  • commpro123 Jim misses Hawaii 🏝️ (@commpro123) reported

@Shawhelp hi there. Are you having issues in Sherwood Park Alberta? I have no cable or internet. I've rebooted my Bluecurve modem but all I get it a yellow/orange flashing light.

  • turbulentio Digi (@turbulentio) reported

@JulieRohrYEG @ShawInfo 1/ Is the signal boosting for wifi? If so, signal boosting extends the reach of a signal. Signal boosting won't help w/ poor service coming into a home. Shaw runs feed lines to neighborhood connection points. Subscriber lines are run from the connection point to a person's home.

  • nivende2 David Niven (@nivende2) reported

@JulieRohrYEG @Shaybeerta @ShawInfo Because you are on Shaw you don’t want to share bandwith with others in the same building. It would help if you are the only one on line when you Zoom. Your router has two bands. ....

  • QuinnBoser Quinn (@QuinnBoser) reported

@Shaybeerta @JulieRohrYEG @ShawInfo Came here to say exactly this! Best way to get good speed is just run a long Cat6 cable directly from your modem. Wi-Fi will never be as good, even with a booster.

  • turbulentio Digi (@turbulentio) reported

@JulieRohrYEG @ShawInfo 2/ If too many subscribers are being fed from1 neighborhood connection point. Service will be poor. On your computer, if you go to the wifi connection option & scan for connection points it should give you an idea of the service provider subscription rate in your area.

@JulieRohrYEG @Shaybeerta @ShawInfo If you have gigabyte service to your wireless, you will have a 100 times more speed if you change from wireless to being wired in. If you don't have an RJ45 port on your computer, a dongle to give you a RJ45 port by plugging into one of your USB 3 ports is pretty inexpensive
