@IlanMuskat Starlink may yet redeem the man in my eyes. I wish it were literally anyone else, but I am rooting for Starlink to take a humongous dump all over the parasitic Canadian telecom industry who've left my in-laws waiting for broadband & non-spotty cell service for the past 25 years.

When I do get the chance to fix it , you'll see that I simulate the deployment of Starlink satellites, the orbit raising, etc. (i.e. not just the way the final constellation looks). I have to make assumptions, but it does provide a way to assess the risks in all mission phases

So was there anything good in this infrastructure bill? Broadband is only wired and microwave. Not satellite like starlink or cellphone service which actually provides rural connectivity. The rail just keeps Amtrak running in its broke way, etc.

@LiveAndDieOnMa1 @SawyerMerritt It's expensive. The people who don't have internet hardly have the dough for the receiver, and the people who have it already have internet. Like where I live out in the Texas country. I had 2K to ***** a tower to get my own signal. My neighbors, nope, nor for Starlink either.

@TeslaJLP The thing is Starlink isn’t a replacement for traditional city internet. It’s meant to be a solution for people who either have low speed, unreliable, or no internet at all. It’s not cheap to launch all those satellites and manufacture the antennas.

He's helping global warming with Tesla, attempting to help traffic Congestion with the Boring company, launching Starlink which will give 1gb DL to all rural areas, and he wants to colonize Mars with Space X

@liamkennedy I saw a post earlier by someone, said 81% of starlink satellites launched are actually operational. The rest have to come down eventually.

@POTUS Seems like @elonmusk already solved this problem with Starlink ? Why do you need to spend so much money ? Just setup terminal and 5G at any place you want (or just terminals at the low density places)

@ClimateHuman @SenSanders @elonmusk Great! I am too. Tesla energy has created battery storage systems that are replacing coal plants. They do solar. They are working on battery recycling and reuse. SpaceX's Starlink is providing high-speed internet access to people who have no or poor access. Are these good things?

@28delayslater Never going to happen. Elon’s not going to let anything get in his way to Mars. Taking SpaceX public can only cause more trouble than it would ever be worth. There will be spin-offs like Starlink and possibly others over time but never SpaceX

@QuantumG @Joffan7 They're separate issues? You brought up height relative to ISS. Wikipedia StarLink page says 100% burn up for V1.0. I can't find the source it was over a year ago I read it. Also btw Scott Manley recently did YouTube video on deorbiting ISS, if it interests you.

@TeslaJLP It all depends on upload/download speed and total GB allowance…at least around here. Starlink service is for underserved communities where fiber is not available. Either dial up or @SpaceXStarlink

TBGI is specifically clarifying its Oct. 25 board resolution, saying it had started talks with several satellite operators. In fact, it suggested that Starlink was only mentioned as the company had "already been cited as having interest in the Philippine market."
