@DeanStoneArt @jsrailton I use Telegram for notifications to buy scarce products. Apparently I let it access my contact list when I first installed it. Since the 6th I've seen a handful of people I've worked with in the past join the service. Most are the typical 2nd Amendment / NRA guys.

WhatsApp is MASSIVE outside the US, so if people finally decide they're done with it, a lot of them are or will be moving to Telegram. So yes, they should shut down the ****** Tr*mpist groups, but claiming it's being overrun is hysteria, so let's not go that far :P

@Salameleon Doing the math, only 6% of that growth is North America, South America, and Australia. Turns out Americans are closer to a rounding error of the base for Telegram, which if memory serves furries are the main US users, and the math checks out.

@gwensnyderPHL @telegram The difference is channels like that actually get shut down when they are reported, and the platform itself is a private messaging service meaning you would be hurting more people than helping by shutting it down.

@HakuPamfer Telegram isnt based in the US. Other than blocking the service, they cant shut it down the same way they did parler. I dont expect telegram will get blocked, as it is far less "targeted" toward fascists as parler was. Parler was literally created just to provide a safe haven.

Telegram reached half a billion users. 25M in the last 72 hours 🤯 I'm expecting a lot more as the date of WhatsApp's enforced new terms of service approaches. What I'm about to say might be wrong, but I doubt Facebook will still exists in 10 years. We're getting tired of them
