Yes, according to Telus and CP24 reports, copper thieves damaged fibre optic lines while trying to steal copper cables. This caused the widespread outage across northwestern B.C. on May 4–5, knocking out phone, internet, and even affecting some 911 and hospital services. Repairs were underway quickly.

Get this! Telus in Canada using Al to alter the accents of customer service agents! Al 'accent masking' at overseas call centres sparks union backlash in Canada For labour representatives, the feature is another concern among many when it comes to the effects of Al on their members. How do you feel about this move?

Half the people talking about the Telus data center in Vancouver are literally some of the dumbest people in Canada I swear to god. Why Telus? -Because who TF else is going to build it? Why downtown Vancouver? -Because that's where the ******* internet exchange is. Downtown in a city is the most retarded place for a data center!!!11!!11! -No, you're literally an idiot stfu. The data center will be loud and create loads of issues for people?? -NO, you're literally an idiot stfu. Why is Telus the only business in Canada who can build data center infrastructure? -Because they've been doing it for the past 15 years and they know how to do it. Why is there nobody else in Canada who can do it? -Because they all work at Telus. Can't Rogers do it? -No. Can't Bell do it? - LOL. Why can't some other company other than Telus do it? -Because there is literally nobody else. How can a company with no experience in data centers build data center? - They have 5 data centers already and building a data center has less to do with what is inside and more to do with the services it provides and the SLA. How can it be true that the only qualified party to take on one of the most important technology projects in the country is one of the biggest technology companies in the country? - ... How can it be true there is only one qualified party in the country? - Why would the opposite be true?

@ShaneWenzel Nenshi should be notified so he can complain louder about the “biggest data breach in Canadian history”. So we now have CRA, Telus,Rogers/Fido, Loblaws and the RCMP firearms owners data breaches, yet the media only covers the Alberta issue

"We are getting to a point where not answering your phone is the safest thing to do" These scam calls are so common, and usually involve the scammers spoofing a local number to help fool the victim. Somehow @TELUS is unable (or unwilling) to do anything about number spoofing 😑

@JonSedore HOW SOON WE FORGET The data breach involving Telus Digital in March 2026. Telus Digital confirmed investigating a cybersecurity incident March 12, 2026. The breach involved unauthorized access over several months prior (possibly undetected since late 2025). The hackers stole a massive amount of data—up to around 1 petabyte (700+ terabytes according to some reports). This included customer records, call-center recordings, personally identifiable information from multiple clients, source code, If you're a Telus customer , consider steps like changing passwords or enabling monitoring for identity theft.
