    @PaulyTremonte @tunguz in the context of AI the useful metric is FLOPS/$, or useful compute per dollar. On this measure, Telus is far behind the pack. They also provide the ~worst telecom service in the entire developed world at the most expensive rates. So yeah, I expect it to be done similarly poorly

    @MTe005 @cd_hooks @Lux_Stella_ of what economy? No ai company is making money or adding any value. Every normal company is admitting that it’s useless too. Instead of carney doing anything of value he just gave up billions to Telus for their new customer service

    @JsonBasedman @TheGeorgePu @TELUS I would rather have seen that money go to proven research cases, but then of course there is a lot of potential for fraud Point being we have talent here and I don’t see how Telus isn’t going to make it it more accessible for them Many researchers are stuck renting from RunPod and similar providers or else self funding The question is who is this supposed to benefit I don’t see Telus acquiring prime locations and getting a break on taxes as beneficial to Canadians (this is the same company who is in trouble for using AI to cover up their telephone rep’s accents) They certainly aren’t going to make the cost of inference cheaper - we are already way behind and the cost has gone up, which means Telus is paying a premium Canadian startups are better off buying used GPUs at this point

    @NorthrnPrspectv Worked for McKesson, RelayHealth, SureScripts, etc. Libs glanced at e-prescribing in the U.S. “Lets build our own Rx network”. Libs dropped $300 M on PrescribeIT. Doctors refused. Adoption rate: >5%. Will be shut down this month. TELUS gets huge check; Canadians get nothing.

    @SteveSaretsky Telus is the worst besides CRA to deal with. I’ll be cancelling my Telus subscription. Only reason still in buisness lack of competition..

    @TheJen73 @ABDanielleSmith @kevinolearytv This is a hostile invasion. People do not want this **** in 🇨🇦. Telus is developing two massive AI data centres in Vancouver, spanning a combined footprint of roughly 477,000 square feet and utilizing over 126 megawatts of power.

    @Budwiser620 @iamkennethchan Yeah but they can ration people's showers to once every three days. Problem solved and Telus has enough water for their data center.

    Who gives a **** if these AI slop factories use /less/ water? I care that billions are being chucked into a private corporate profit statement. If Telus wants to build data centres let them take the risk. If the government needs data centres, build and own them.

    My mom called @TELUS twice to cancel her services and amazingly, the call kept dropping. This is beyond unprofessional. @TELUSsupport
