@justincooke182 @cogeco Thank you!! I'm running my business online and this afternoon would have been a disaster with this outage

@JadahParadox @leahvallee @comcast It's a monopoly. That's what happens. Canada isn't different. Just got up here and spent 4 days escalating support tickets thru Cogeco to enable MSNBC which is in our package. I'm pretty sure it was off for all of Ontario. I should get royalties.

I was told that I had to return old one and asked if I would get a @cogeco employee discount since I am doing shipping, receiving, installation, QC, set up and customer education. No discount but he did chuckle.

@Andrade14Mike @KeeganB63977789 @cogeco Mike instead of being cogeco’s white knight maybe you should hang out with your nine year old and get off Twitter

@startca And yes, he is messaging you as well on Facebook, but we are both just tired of calling to no resolution. I HATE @cogeco with a fiery passion and would praise Start. But this is just taking so long to find a resolution it’s burning up the goodwill and experience that’s based on.

Rogers/Bell/Cogeco/Telus do NOT have a monopoly - not even close - on enterprise level, full BGP-tables internet access in Canada. So when critical services go down because someone chose "just Rogers" that was the choice to have a single point of failure.

I keep getting warnings from Cogeco about interruptions this coming July 12, but so far my network has been okay. It was wonky yesterday morning, but now it's fine.

@meganysta @TekSavvyBuzz I wrote my major paper on internet infrastructure and inequity in access 13 years ago and I think it is more important now. Toronto owned and could have extended a robust wifi network in the 2000s but sold it to Cogeco.

@SamyiMo @TheBeaverton Clearly they should have redundancies. The fact Bell, TELUS, Shaw, Cogeco, Videotron, Sasktel, etc. already exist didn’t prevent Interac’s service from going down. How would another 5, 10 or 100 competitors have?

@Eliza021502 @sunlorrie @TELUSsupport We have Telus cellphones and Cogeco internet, no issues.

@startca My WiFi has been unaffected through this (over cogeco) but now it's out? Is there a new outage as this isn't related to the Rogers issue.
-
Joe Dominion
(@JoseDominio) reported
@mat_schmaltz Capitalism is the reason why the problem was not worse than it was: there were still lots of other options available because private companies made it so. Millions of people weren't affected by Rogers outage at all, because they were on Shaw, Telus, Cogeco, Videotron, etc.

@nspector4 Videotron will go national. They are not as good as Cogeco in customer service but they are way way better than Rogers and Bell.

@juuuubot Depending on where you live, teksavvy might provide service via a different company. In Niagara, teksavvy uses Cogeco infrastructure. I had internet and the outage didn’t affect me.
