@caiobchi @cmaconthehill @CityNewsKIT Videotron competition lowered prices in Quebec. Much like MTS + Sasktel did in MB / SK. Competition for the big 3. Videotron has service outside of QC, in Ottawa, same prices as QC. The big 3 and their flanker brands would not match prices of Videotron in Ottawa. We switched.

If you’re a student and have wifi through Sasktel, make sure you get your student number on file! I did it today and my bill was cut down significantly!

@alexmarz @SaskTel @Telesat **** your government internet. You can pay for it too

@LaserAud @C_Classiques What is going to be the state of your network in 10 years without federal government billions...because it will happen...the federal government needs to cut everywhere. How many billions did the fédéral government spent on fiber? For Canada, likely in the 100 billion range the last 5 years. This is not going to happen again. Starlink is already a player...nearly 12 millions subscribers...from 6 last year... and projections is 200 millions by 2036...I say more in the billion range. What happens when it's cheaper to have a satellite antenna then fiber...it's already that in Montréal. I would have subscribed to it if it wasn't for the heavy tree cover over my house... this will be resolved with more satellites...they are launching them every couple of days. The v3 satellite is 100 times more powerful than v2mini...they have 10,000 v2 in orbit and project to have 1,000,000 v3 by 2036...if starship works of course...which it will. How does sasktel pay for the upgrades and repairs to their costly network? For that matter how does Bell and the other player do it? The answer is that they can't. I get it that you are a big fan of sasktel and you think that they will be able to compete...they will for a.time but not on the long term...none of the networks are. Good luck!

Did they sell the Sasktel phone lists to con artists to pay down some of the debt?

  • JabberwockyP
    Jabberwocky (@JabberwockyP) reported

@SassBot69 @RomeTimed @theJagmeetSingh Yeah. However, it wasn't just SaskTel and MTS that offered those prices. Rogers, Bell, and Telus matched. So that leaves 2 possibilities. Either they lost money on providing service there for that price (gouging the rest of us to make up for it) or it was still profitable.

@emmagmay @Rogers Roger’s is horrible. We had Shaw fit fibre which wasn’t great but Rogers is WAY WAY WAY worse. Switching to Sasktel ASAP!

Anyone else with a Sasktel phone having issues when crossing from Sask to Manitoba and have to reset phone after crossing border for calls and texts to work? Have had to do this for quite some time now, shows full service but does not allow any calls to come in or texts.

  • SaskFlat
Sask Flat 🐀 (@SaskFlat) reported from Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan

@lethnewsnow I *never* get them. I phoned SaskTel last year and they didn't seem to know why. I just hope there is never a *real* emergency.

@BShane555 @NoGunsInCanada The only thing stopping Moe from selling off Sasktel (one of the very few remaining crown corporations), is that no one wants to by a phone company with less than a million subscribers in a service area covering 650,000 sq km.

@alexmarz @SaskTel @Telesat Yes they should definitely wait, continue to use extremely slow or no internet, because using starlink hurts some troll’s feelings. Starlink has been a game changer for people who’ve never had access to real high speed internet. No one will choose to pay more $$ for Telesat.
