  Never trust @telus. Been a customer for 14 long years straight and changed my rate plan. Just got my bill and was hit with a $100 rate plan change that I was not told about by their loyalty department. Makes me sick loyalty counts for squat.

  I follow dividend kings and champions very closely. Today, TELUS $TU just cut its dividend by 55%. That move ends a 22-year streak of yearly increases at the second-largest telecom firm in Canada. Shares were down as much as 14% as soon as the news came out. The red flags sat out in the open for some time. The firm carried a weak dividend score of 6.8. Its payout ratio sat at a wild 278%. The yield hit 11%, and anything over 6% already looks risky. Debt forced the issue. Management needed cash, and the dividend was the fastest place to grab it. The company is listed in my International Dividend Champions report. The next update of that list will show the change.

  $TU — Dividend investors in TU just got peeled. TELUS announced a brutal 55% dividend cut to $0.1875/quarter, coinciding with a $2.1 billion non-cash impairment at TELUS Digital. This drove a $1.8 billion net loss for Q2. This wasn't a minor tweak; it's a clear signal of deeper operational challenges, especially within their digital segment, following a Q1 dividend growth pause and a 52% net income drop in May. The drastic dividend reset aims to deleverage the balance sheet, targeting 3.0x net debt/EBITDA by end-2028 from 3.5x currently. This move is expected to save $2.7 billion cumulatively through 2028, with the DRIP discount ending October 1st to further reduce dilution. Full-year guidance was slashed across the board: service revenue now flat to -2%, Adjusted EBITDA -2% to -4%, and free cash flow around $1.8 billion. This magnitude of impairment and guidance cut will rattle income-focused portfolios. We're watching for concrete asset monetization updates and progress on their leverage target.   TELUS Corp $TU has reset its quarterly dividend to support deleveraging and fuel long-term growth, with a quarterly dividend of $0.1875 per common share, representing a reset of 55 per cent. TELUS’ net debt to Adjusted EBITDA of 3.5-times at quarter-end is targeting approximately 3.0-times or lower by year-end 2028, supported by organic free cash flow growth, the dividend reset, disciplined capital expenditures, and proceeds from asset monetization processes currently underway. Full-year consolidated service revenue guidance has been revised to a range of flat to negative 2 per cent; consolidated Adjusted EBITDA is now expected to be in a range of negative 2 to negative 4 per cent; and full-year free cash flow is anticipated to be approximately $1.8 billion.

  Me: please send a tech Telus: okay, but we think it’s a software/network issue on our back end, but the only way to report it is for you to remain on the line and I won’t send a tech till the backend teams says to. And that’s why I’ve been on this call for over 80 minutes now.
