Prior to that there was a Rural Broadband radio connection that was often not much better than dial up, or an xplornet satellite connection, unusable in bad weather.

Vicky Ehlert (@vickye9296) reported@TheenergyEng @jkenney Xplornet is awful. I had CCI before they sold out to xplornet and remember now why I quit using them in the past. My speeds are up and down like a yo-yo. If I could afford the initial starlink setup I'd switch today.

Steve Hanson (@SteveHa20214081) reported@Innectic @SpaceX The internet from viasat xplornet wild blue etc geosats is poor 24/7 365 . Starlink is a great option. Even if a few bumps. Outages are minimal unless it was mounted where trees interfere.

Gonna win the cup! (@Geetee_123) reported@kurse4 Appreciate the insight. Definitely less internet traffic here in the winter months with kids gone... so speed has been suffiecient lately. But yep, @Xplornet has been far too unreliable for far too long, and customer service dropped off the map.
