@justincooke182 @cogeco Curious as to why changing the DNS resolves the issue. Does it imply that the issue is not with the internet service, rather it's with Cogeco's DNS gateway? Or do you think they took down their DNS gateway to look into an issue with their service?

  • constanzapool Costanza (@constanzapool) reported

@justincooke182 @cogeco amazing! will it go back to normal on it's own? also is this costing me extra money at all like using data? please be kind, i am stupid.

Please note that due to the massive Cogeco outage in Ontario, our phone lines and internet services as well as e-mail service are not accessible right now.

  • BenjimanPower Benjiman Power (@BenjimanPower) reported

@cogeco The issue appears to be related to DNS servers - if you set your DNS servers to Google's Public DNS your service may work. DNS server: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

  • tobiascarryer Tobias Carryer (@tobiascarryer) reported

@cogeco Here's how to fix it on Mac: Settings > Network Click on Wi-Fi on the left. Click "Advanced..." on the bottom right. Click DNS at the top. Click the plus sign on the bottom left under "DNS Servers". Type 8.8.8.8 Do it again for 8.8.8.4 "OK" and "Apply"

  • HamiltonFASD Hamilton FASD (@HamiltonFASD) reported

@cogeco Any idea on timing for resolving the lack of service? Also perhaps listing the areas affected?
