Sasktel will need to pay for additional support staff to assist customers, as well as deal with the fallout resulting in the general distaste in the province for what people feel are unnecessary fees.

And often exec govt footed the bill to bring better service into an area. There is no way a private company would have done the same. But ya, the service still sucks.

Paid $40 activation fee for no service! Brutal, can I get some help! Or should I just switch back to a national provider!

SaskTel Support (@SaskTelSupport) reportedOn March 25, 2026 - Crews will be completing scheduled maintenance on the satellite network that supports SaskTel Landline Phone services (Home Phone and Business Phone) in Kinoosao. The outage is expected to last approximately 8 hours. The exact timing of the service interruption cannot be confirmed in advance. During the outage, residents who require emergency assistance should physically contact another person for help or visit your nearest health clinic or RCMP detachment. SaskTel apologizes for any inconvenience this service interruption may cause and thanks customers for their patience while the work is completed. #skoutage

During this window, Internet, wireless, and landline (home and business) services will be unavailable across multiple Northeast Saskatchewan communities, including Sandy Bay, Brabant Lake, Geikie River, Wollaston Lake, Black Lake, Key Lake, McArthur River, Cigar Lake, Collins Bay, Stony Rapids, and Fond‑du‑Lac. This work is necessary to repair the damage and ensure the long‑term reliability of services in the area. SaskTel apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may cause and thanks customers for their patience while crews complete the work as quickly as possible. Asking the service provider ( from a technical perspective ) could lead to reasonable doubt. Not to mention the larger privacy concerns.
