@StrategicThghts @Rogers @TransLink In the late 1990’s Rogers transferred their internet and TV customers to Shaw. In 2000 I switched my mobility service to Telus. 22 years later and Rogers is still a crummy company. #CRTC

@LadyAvis20 @cpllottawa @AlixG_2 A lot of terminals and POS systems use rogers. If the terminal at a place used Telus or Bell for it’s connection you could use Visa/Mastercard/Amex etc but not interac. Also some banks credit cards were not functioning so depends on the bank as well and their network

@Mikeggibbs @74Mightymouse Breaking up Rogers or increasing more competition will not solve this because it seems all telecom are using the same network infrastructure ie no 911, no Interac for everyone including Bell/Telus. They’re all dependent on digital. They have to change the network infrastructure.

@gmbutts I agree! Very dangerous situation to have one company monopolize 911 service, cell phones, debit machines, etc. Rogers business continuity plans must include MOUs with other telecommunications companies like Shaw, and Telus.

@ShayeGanam So how come my Telus internet service was down yesterday as well? Do they subscribe to Rogers for their service?

@Red_Toryism @zeeke55 @journo_dale Exactly. Trust me, as an American: Rogers, Bell, Shaw, Telus may all suck but you do NOT want Comcast in your life. As it is, it's bad enough our US ambassador to Canada was a Comcast executive. I guess because he knows a few things about telco oligopolies with sh!tty service.

@TheoFleury14 It was all planned by Telus to get more customers to switch over, or it was because Rogers just sucks...
