Lesson learned from yesterday’s @Rogers outage: diversify. Our household is currently Rogers everything: TV, internet, home phone and cellular. Won’t be much longer. Will be moving some of those services to @bell or @TELUS.

Tigers going down for 24 hours is further proof why we can’t have one company monopolizing everything. Bundle services can suck it…I’ve got Telus for tv/internet and Rogers for cellphone - but I will never have everything under one company.

Canada lives in an oligopoly for telecommunications, with 90% of service coming from only 3 providers: Rogers, Bell, and Telus. With more competition, less people would be forced to use the Rogers Network, preventing a single outage from affecting so many Canadians.

I'm not saying a damn thing about the great #Rogers meltdown. I'm a Telus subscriber... and I aint messing up any mojo.

@StephenPunwasi To be fair what could the governemnt do in 24 hours? They definitely need to kill the Bell/TELUS/Rogers oligopoly. Should we have a backup national system? Maybe, or force the big 3 to have multiple redundancies, including using each other’s networks if theirs goes down

@FP_Champagne No! Don't talk to telus and bell! The CEO of telus and bell are already buddies and work together. We don't need them being friends with Rogers also, That's the very last little bit of competition, if you can even call with that, that we have left. ******* idiot

@AmitAryaMD Those who wish to can switch to Bell and/or Telus. Rogers does not have a monopoly. You are actually making a good case for outright health care privatization. Rogers' problems (both short- and long-term) will get resolved precisely because they face competition.
