As a result, bad actors are calling clients as if from a major provider and HAVE enough client details to make people believe it’s a legit call. But the core claims driving the marches (water grid drain + waste heat baking the city) still don’t match the actual engineering. These aren’t traditional evaporative data centres. Telus/Westbank designs use closed-loop liquid cooling—a sealed system that recirculates the same fluid, like a car radiator. Result: dramatically lower water use (company target: up to 90% less than conventional air-cooled facilities) and near-zero ongoing evaporation for the primary loop. At 150 W Georgia, the heat isn’t vented to the street. It’s transferred into Creative Energy’s district steam plant to help heat 200+ downtown buildings and cut natural-gas demand. That’s the opposite of “warming the city.” Protests highlight real questions about scale, power, and process. Those deserve scrutiny.
