  $TU — Dividend investors in TU just got peeled. TELUS announced a brutal 55% dividend cut to $0.1875/quarter, coinciding with a $2.1 billion non-cash impairment at TELUS Digital. This drove a $1.8 billion net loss for Q2. This wasn't a minor tweak; it's a clear signal of deeper operational challenges, especially within their digital segment, following a Q1 dividend growth pause and a 52% net income drop in May. The drastic dividend reset aims to deleverage the balance sheet, targeting 3.0x net debt/EBITDA by end-2028 from 3.5x currently. This move is expected to save $2.7 billion cumulatively through 2028, with the DRIP discount ending October 1st to further reduce dilution. Full-year guidance was slashed across the board: service revenue now flat to -2%, Adjusted EBITDA -2% to -4%, and free cash flow around $1.8 billion.   @TrixieLeRue I left TELUS because even as an employee, they had a "rushman" visit my house to try to fix my internet connection over a dozen times and still couldn't figure out how to fix it. I managed to get my current Shaw issue fixed with a friend.

  It’s fairly obvious at this point that $AMPG and Telus are collaborating on Telus’ 66 billion dollar network investment through 2030. Yes, if $ampg gets even 1% of that cake their market cap quadruples. (Not even including the dozen other projects they have going on) But what if that’s not all they are contributing to Telus? Telus is now hiring waves of AI Voice Data Specialists to train next-gen voice AI. What could a wireless operator company possibly need AI voice data specialists for? You call your local pharmacy/carrier/small business and you get a ****** prompt operator you have press 1, 2, or 3 five times in a row to get to who you want to reach. It takes an hour to complete your phone call. This is the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. My inference is simple. Telus is going to revamp and wipe out the competition of IVR (which is a ~6 billion/year industry btw) Telus operates in over 35 countries. Guess whose radios get to be the backbone of this entire operation? $AMPG Data center tailwinds too lol this isnt a bubble $NOK $ERIC $IREN $NBIS $DGXX

  So if any business owners in customer service industry out there want to have a successful business just call Roger’s or Telus customer service and do the exact opposite of them I guarantee you will be a successful business. Beyond frustrating .

  @kinisurrco Nice summary. I think your model is onto something, but at the same time I can't bring myself to buy more $T.TO (I sold $BCE.TO a couple years ago). That probably means it's a good time to buy. BCE is a no-go for me because I don't trust management. They're kings of saying one thing and doing another. Rogers I don't love the focus on sports franchises. Quebecor is still my favourite in the sector. Only a tiny bit more expensive than Telus on a P/FCF basis, but better balance sheet, a dividend that should grow, and a more focused company. Honourable mention to Cogeco too. Think they sell the U.S. part of the company and use the proceeds to pay down debt/do a buyback. They may even potentially take the company private.

  I subscribe to Sportsnet through my TELUS television package. Every month I pay for your channels, yet because I live in Calgary and support the Vancouver Canucks, I am expected to purchase a full Sportsnet+ Premium subscription simply to watch out-of-market games.

  So it sounds like Telus and possibly other carriers want to start charging a extra fee for better signal during peak times. Charging us for the cell service we should already be getting.
