I only recently heard about #rogersoutage, happening all across Canada, from Twitter... I wouldn't have known about this had my family not used Telus as our service provider

@WesternHemlox I know 2 BC older folks who've always had land lines &never internet service. Presumably, Telus' own phone network still exists apart from the internet,& Telus' line into yr. home can connect to both. I believe land lines still have superior audio quality vs. VOIP (which I have)

@theJagmeetSingh I agree Jagmeet. Do away with monoply for the Telco. Bring more competition. Verizon. Break up Rogers Bell and Telus. Do not allow Rogers merger. Paying back customer for service outage is not the solutiob. Tackle the bigger ones

@subvoyeur @HeatherMoAndCo Our landline and tv didn’t work with outage. Neither did our Telus cells. I was in a situation where I had to call a doctor at the hospital and the hospital lines were down too. Very serious issues esp for palliative care pt in Durham.

When I was young we had BCTel AGT SaskTel etc. Then Telus from BCTEL and AGT. The mobile industry was in very hands to begin with. These huge outages are a result of few national networks.. all your eggs in one basket.. isn't connectivity an essential service these days?

@The280Times @AboutRogers need to have home phones that will WORK when Rogers goes down. Landlines no longer work when your Rogers, Bell, Telus etc service goes down. We need dedicated landlines that are separate from the internet/cable again.

@TELUS Wow Telus, really kicking the horse while it's down... This is why I no longer work for you and will never give you any money.

Anyone else just have their Rogers Wi-Fi go down again? Mine went back on about 8 pm last night, but just conked out again. (Posting this from a Telus work phone).

@TheBeaverton Uneventful day! Hardly noticed cell phone wasn’t working. What does that tell you? Two things-life doesn’t end if Rogers, Telus, Fido, Bell,… fail and amount they charge you for their unreliable service is insane.
