Canada is doubling down on sovereign AI infrastructure. Following the sell-out of their first AI Factory, TELUS and the Canadian government are building three new state-of-the-art facilities in BC.

@Trendstockers @TELUS Same situation happened with me. Telus will have a tough time winning and retaining customers over. Black friday door to door salesman sold me on it. Since then iv cancelled 2/4 lines i activated with them. Telus koodo Internet has been pretty terrible. Im pretty happy with Telus home security, as long as I don’t ever get billed for the fire department dispatch on a false alarm. My neighbour got stuck with a $1200 bill on a false alarm.

@CoJoHendo @sitkamedia @JarrydJaeger Misinformed comment. You've probably never heard of the Telus Garden office

@caroltreardon @bcndp Telus is the first corp. I realized was completely unethical in Canada. We STILL need to go after corps like this. It absolutely should die off- & they sure as s*it shouldn’t have access to anyone’s medical records… 🙄😒🤔👀 Never mind any further public trust from ppl.

@bears_aware I fail to understand how this is an immigrant’s fault. Bell Telus Roger’s are hiring them to do this, point is that economy is in distress, all the companies are trying adopt methods that may be unusual to the Canadian culture. So stop shooting the messenger, target the source.

@MobileMikeV @SawyerMerritt Funny my Telus fibre optic is less reliable than my starlink was. After taxpayer rural fibre was added (thanks everyone) I did lower my bill $50 a month at the time. (It crept back up and starlink is cheaper now). But starlink had no slow downs. Telus fibre still does. It’s strange. Top soeeds (although I only need about 20-30 were about 150 for starlink and 3-400 for Telus. So apparently it is faster (just of no benefit to my usage)…but the micro slowdowns are.

@avilewis Also **** Telus as it tries to take over our public healthcare

@PaulyTremonte @tunguz in the context of AI the useful metric is FLOPS/$, or useful compute per dollar. On this measure, Telus is far behind the pack. They also provide the ~worst telecom service in the entire developed world at the most expensive rates. So yeah, I expect it to be done similarly poorly

@MTe005 @cd_hooks @Lux_Stella_ of what economy? No ai company is making money or adding any value. Every normal company is admitting that it’s useless too. Instead of carney doing anything of value he just gave up billions to Telus for their new customer service

This would, of course be the sensible way of proceeding. Problem is they would have admit that Canada does not, and will not have a "Sovereign" anything ICT related. And, Telus, Bell, and Rogers are laden with debt and desperate for growth.
