Shaw Issues Reports Near Oakville, Ontario

Latest outage, problems and issue reports in Oakville and nearby locations:

  • DelroyDyer89 Delroy Dyer 🇻🇨🇨🇦 (@DelroyDyer89) reported from Toronto, Ontario

Today's #rogersoutage is yet another reason the government needs to divest @FreedomMobile from any sale of @ShawInfo. While all @Rogers brands including #chatr #fido are down, freedom customers have service because it's a separate network still.

  • AlsoKnownAs_AA Algis Akstinas (@AlsoKnownAs_AA) reported from Toronto, Ontario

@Mark_Goldberg @ShawInfo Good for people in AB & B.C. that can and want to bundle. But not focused on the underserved or accessibility. Have to have a fixed service, qualify. And accept zoned plan limitations. If you followed the Wireless Industry Review closely @TD_Canada these were some of key points.

  • mgamble Matthew Gamble (@mgamble) reported from Oakville, Ontario

@Mark_Goldberg @TELUS @ShawInfo No, I’m only talking about fiber in the ground. It needs to be treated like a utility, not like a competitive service. We don’t need to rip up streets twice and run multiple cables to each home. And if the government is funding it, it 💯 percent needs to be open access.

  • mgamble Matthew Gamble (@mgamble) reported from Oakville, Ontario

@bramabramson @Mark_Goldberg @Bell @Rogers @TELUS @Videotron @ShawInfo The problem today is mostly on inter-carrier calls, so if calls can be routed without using those trunks it would be a big win. I think I’m going to write a follow up post this week with a primer on PSTN routing.

  • ObiOnyemaobi Sabastien Obi Onyemaobi (@ObiOnyemaobi) reported

@Shawhelp This does not explain how a multi-billion dollar corporation, with customers province-wide, does not have a plan in place for network redundancy in the event of a catastrophe. Redundancy is a must in the ISP world, especially to avoid these types of issues.

  • kellybrocklesby Kelly Brocklesby (@kellybrocklesby) reported

@Shawhelp @marionetta Our business has been down for 24 hours. No phone, internet and no interact machine. I have sent a DM but am not getting an answer. Time to switch our phone lines back!!

  • etomboulian Evan (@etomboulian) reported

@Shawhelp BCHydro lists the power outage due to the fire in Langley as restored now. Can you provide an update to us as to why your service is not restored yet? - "Once hydro is restored, services in the area should begin working." - doesn't seem to be a true statement..

  • TDogg83 Trevor (@TDogg83) reported

@Shawhelp @PatrickSelby3 @shawhelp why should we have to request a service credit? We have been without connection for 31 hours now. We should expect to see it on our billing statement to reflect the outage

  • ThatIndianArmy1 That Army Brat (@ThatIndianArmy1) reported

@AmberrIvy @ShawInfo Yes, I know I heard the fire was really bad :( ..... hopefully they resolve it soon!

  • ThatIndianArmy1 That Army Brat (@ThatIndianArmy1) reported

@Shawhelp nobody replying to my DMs. I messaged you 10 times and keep getting an automated response of hi how can we help you. So disappointed

  • ObiOnyemaobi Sabastien Obi Onyemaobi (@ObiOnyemaobi) reported

@NEWS1130 @ShawInfo @Shawhelp This Shaw outage is the third major outage that we've experienced in the last month. Why would a single fire cripple all Shaw services? Completely unacceptable.... Especially when people are working from home and cannot access anything externally!

  • ThatIndianArmy1 That Army Brat (@ThatIndianArmy1) reported

Officially switching from @ShawInfo to @TELUS because of @ShawInfo bad customer service, bad connectivity and lack of transparency in sharing estimates about outage times.

  • bchydro BC Hydro (@bchydro) reported

@MrPremji @Shawhelp @MrPremji Hi there, we understand your frustration. Due to extensive damage from a fire, crews are still waiting to access some of our damaged equipment. We're hoping to receive an update between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. today. We appreciate your patience at this time.

  • MyrtleCypress55 Stephanie 🍁 (@MyrtleCypress55) reported from Langley, British Columbia

@Shawhelp Langley City just went down too! Any eta on when this will be back online?
