They must be hard up for $140 bucks. Customer service clerk was pretty rude when I asked for the penalty to be waived!! Classless move.

At least with Shaw I can send a DM and they help me online pretty quickly. All the call centres are a joke now.

You can also pay less. $10 for just local calls. I'd definitely pay the bit extra to not have to worry about long distance calls.

As a client I'm appalled, they never answer the phone. Farming your customer service out to third world countries is pathetic, Telus deserves to keep imploding.

TELUS announced a brutal 55% dividend cut to $0.1875/quarter, coinciding with a $2.1 billion non-cash impairment at TELUS Digital. This drove a $1.8 billion net loss for Q2. This wasn't a minor tweak; it's a clear signal of deeper operational challenges, especially within their digital segment, following a Q1 dividend growth pause and a 52% net income drop in May. The drastic dividend reset aims to deleverage the balance sheet, targeting 3.0x net debt/EBITDA by end-2028 from 3.5x currently. This move is expected to save $2.7 billion cumulatively through 2028, with the DRIP discount ending October 1st to further reduce dilution. Full-year guidance was slashed across the board: service revenue now flat to -2%, Adjusted EBITDA -2% to -4%, and free cash flow around $1.8 billion. Free cash flow to about $1.8 billion from about $2.45 billion; capital expenditures UP to about $2.6 billion from about $2.3 billion; consolidated service revenue growth to flat-to−2% from 2% to 4%; adjusted EBITDA growth to −2% to −4% from 2% to 4%. The quarterly dividend was reset 55% to $0.1875 a share, an annualized $0.75, which TELUS says frees roughly $2.7 billion of cash through 2028 for debt reduction. The payout policy moved to 45–60% of trailing free cash flow from 60–75%, and the discount on the dividend reinvestment plan is gone from October 1 — the company says that reduces shareholder dilution. The leverage target itself never moved. The deadline did: about 3.0 times net debt to adjusted EBITDA by year-end 2028 rather than 2027, from 3.5 times at quarter-end, citing "competitive pricing pressure and reduced subscriber demand amid lower population growth." Mobile phone net additions were 17,000. A carrier that grew by connecting a growing country is repricing for one that isn't. The dividend is what pays for the extra year. Shares fell about 12%.

Connor (@ConnorsCompShow) reported- On 8/6/25, I also just so happened to be going northbound on SWRT; though I heard (& caught a clip of) other people's phones getting bad WPAs from ~20 km away at Osborne Stn, the Telus cells in the area behaved properly at that time. It wasn't until Nairn that I busted 116222.
